About Megan Pilar Montero

Hi, I'm Megan.

I help people burdened by their clutter to break free and make progress. I believe that decluttering can be a healing and transformative process when approached with gentleness and compassion. My no pressure, go at your own pace approach, weaves together emotional support, practical guidance and gentle accountability.

As a clutter clearing coach, my background as a traditional shamanic healer and 20 years experience as a feng shui practitioner, lends itself well to guiding people through the transformative process of decluttering. I’d be honored to work with you and your home.

How I did I get to decluttering?

Working as a feng shui practitioner led me to my work helping people with their clutter. When clients would ask for my feng shui help to improve their home and life, if they had clutter, I would recommend decluttering as the remedy. Decluttering would produce major transformation in their lives and they’d report feeling energized, motivated and clear.

But I realized that decluttering didn’t come easily to everyone so I started teaching decluttering classes and offering clutter clearing coaching. I noticed that clutter was a huge area of stress for many people and that simply getting emotional support, practical guidance and gentle accountability made all the difference in getting over the avalanche of clutter. Over time I developed my Simplify To Thrive Method of decluttering.

I also learned a lot about decluttering from my experience moving many times in a short period. This forced me to continually reevaluate the value and meaning of my belongings. There is nothing like the stress of moving to force you to get rid of things you don’t love or need!

Contrary to what you might think, keeping my space neat and tidy doesn't come easily to me. I’m a highly creative person and I tend to have multiple projects going on at once. I’m also highly sensitive to space and my mood is quickly affected when there is disorder and chaos. So I’ve learned to make it a routine to pick up after myself so I don’t get overwhelmed, anxious and scattered.

In addition to my work as a clutter clearing coach, I offer traditional shamanic healing, spiritual counseling, house clearing, workshops and ceremonies to help people reconnect and reclaim their spiritual nature and build a deep relationship with divine nature. I’m grateful to live in Santa Cruz, California close to Grandmother Ocean.

More About Me

My personal experience with chronic fatigue, chronic pain and anxiety, and being highly sensitive, led me to my path as a healer and clutter coach.

I was a devoted fine artist and thought I’d spend the rest of my life painting and working with clay. And then, shortly after moving to California in 1996, I started to experience chronic pain. Pain in my hands turned into pain in my whole body. And I had no idea why this was happening to me.

After a long journey of searching for answers and relief, traditional shamanic healing is what helped me reconnect and heal and brought me home to myself. This led to discovering my spiritual calling to the Nahua weather working tradition of Mexico. In 2007, I received an initiation as a Granicera or weather worker, in Nepopualco, Mexico, led by Don David Wiley, the successor to the late Don Lucio Campos Elizalde.

My path as a Granicera led me to discover a calling to be a traditional healer in the Nahua tradition. After an intense 8 year apprenticeship training with Don David, I became fully initiated as a Tepahtiani or traditional shamanic healer in 2021. I return to the highlands of central Mexico twice a year to the home of my tradition to be with my teacher and fellow graniceros and tepahtianime to deepen my learning and experience on this path.

Earlier on in this journey my health issues and high sensitivity to spaces led me to the practice of feng shui-the Chinese art of placement.

First, I found chi gong which led me to tai chi. Then one day my tai chi teacher handed me a flier for a feng shui workshop and said ‘Meg, you’ve got to check this out.’ I had never heard about feng shui, but I was already very interested in the Chinese system of chi through my passion for chi gong and herbal medicine.

Taking that workshop was an aha moment for me. All the years of rearranging my furniture trying to create balance and harmony in my life, along with my high sensitivity to space, finally started to make sense. It was very clear that being a feng shui practitioner was my dream job, but I hesitated. Did people actually do this? This seemed so off the beaten path, even for me.

Eventually I found the courage to begin formal training to become a feng shui practitioner. In 2003, I began by doing an apprenticeship training with teacher Francine Tuft Peterson. Francine sent me to study with two of her beloved teachers, Carol Bridges and Jetsun Ma Master Teacher Ho Lynn. I’m grateful to have studied extensively with these three wise Feng Shui teachers
